Total reach
The highest point the athlete reaches in the air — standing reach plus the best max vertical from the same combine. It is not measured on its own; it is worked out from those two numbers.

Basketball Kinetic Importance
This is the number that decides what happens at the rim. A rim is 10 ft (120 in) from the floor: total reach says how far above or below it a player can get a hand, which is what finishing, blocking and rebounding over length actually come down to. A jump gain and a reach gain both show up here.
Exact Execution Sequence
- 1Nothing extra is run for it.
- 2Standing reach and max vertical are measured at their own stations, under their own protocols.
- 3Total reach is their sum, worked out once both are on file for the same combine.
What Gets an Attempt Disqualified or Re-Run
Strict execution ensures integrity. Disqualified reps are logged with reasons rather than deleted.
- Anything that invalidates standing reach or max vertical — if either is missing for a combine, there is no total reach for that combine.
